Apple announced today a new cheaper version of its 9.7-inch iPad, and a special limited edition of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The new 9.7-inch iPad has a "brighter" Retina display with over 3.1 million pixels. It is enclosed in a thin aluminum unibody enclosure weighing just one pound.

The tablet features the Apple-designed A9 chip with 64‑bit desktop-class architecture for fast processing and graphics performance for apps and games, while maintaining the same all-day battery life. The price for the iPad starts at $329 for a 32GB model - the company's lowest price for a new iPad to date.

The special edition iPhone 7 comes in red color. The new red aluminum iPhone is part of Apple's decade-long (RED) campaign, which contributes to the Global Fund to fight AIDS. Apple's partnership with (RED) involves highlighting the AIDS fundraising campaign with red-themed designs for products and apps.

The new phone will hit stores Friday for a limited period of time. The lowest-priced red version has 128 gigabytes and costs $749. In comparison, the regular iPhone 7 has a 4.7-inch screen; its lowest-priced option has 32 gigabytes of memory and costs $649.
