Apple released a small iPhone software update Thursday to address an issue iPhone users have struggled with since iOS 15.4 reached devices. Users took to forums, Reddit, social media platforms, and Apple support channels to complain that their iPhones' batteries were draining unusually quickly after updating to iOS 15.4. With the update, Apple now says the issue is fixed, along with a couple of issues with accessibility features.

The iOS 15.4.1 patch presents the iPhone battery drain issue as a bug - one that needs fixing with a quick software patch. However when Apple commented on the issue before, it said it was a natural feature of a software update, and that battery drain would naturally even out after several days of use.

The update also fixes a bug that causes braille devices to become unresponsive when navigating text or showing an alert, as well as a bug that causes some iPhone hearing devices to lose connection in some third-party apps.

To update your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Software Update. To update your Mac, go to System Preferences > Software Update.

For iPads, you're good to go with iPadOS 15.4.1 if you have any iPad Pro, any iPad Air from iPad Air 2, iPad mini 4 or newer and iPad from the fifth generation onwards. This includes the iPad Air fifth generation which has just gone on sale.
