Apple fanbois buying Ipads were responsible for 93 per cent of all the 4.5 million tablets sold in the third quarter of 2010. Beancounters at ABI Research found that Ipad punters bought almost all the tablets shifted last Autumn. Despite the fact most of us are living in a recession, Apple users apparently still have enough cash to spend it on overpriced shiny toys. Dubbed media tablets by ABI Research, the hardware category has taken everyone by surprise as tablets are no longer scorned by consumers and the mostly bought by businesses. The industry analyst house said the media tablets are a "promising new talent" with million already having been sold to fashion conscious fad followers. But it's easy enough to understand how Apple Ipad sales made up 93 per cent of tablets sold. For a start Apple didn't have any competition in the consumer tablet field and its netbook without a keyboard device went unanswered for several months by RIM, Google, and others. Read more -here-
