locking up bsod

Post by Mr White »

Anyone know what things would cause a game to freeze? My Avp2 game is locking up giving me bsod sometimes. Says my display nv4.dll is screwing up or something like that. This is a new video card with newest det drivers, didnt do this before with my old card.

Winxp pro
gf4 ti4200 128meg
12v= 11.65 (drops to 11.59 under load)
5v=4.76
are these voltages bad?

First off, yeah. Those rails look bad. The 5v rail should'nt drop below 4.85v. Below that you get instabilities.

The 12v is what feeds the cdroms, HDD's and fans. That's also too low. Your psu is toast.

What are the rest of your specs and what wattage is the psu?

Man that sux then i haven't had this psu more then 10 months but then again it is a crappy generic one lol. Well i've had many problems like dvds freezing, games crashing, sudden reboots rarely but it happens too. I have no case fans, all that this psu is running is the basics 1hd,1dvd,1cdrw etc. Its a 300watt psu.

I agree with the others.,..sounds like ur psu needs to be replaced. Get urself a quality 350w psu, like enermax or antec true power and ur problems should go away. curious, does it lockup any other time or just when u play games? did u remember to uninstall all ur old drivers first b4 installing the new card?

No it seems to be just with Avp2, only in game. My psu is definately not good but i cant see how it caused this problem. I have winxp sp1 installed and det 29.xx are installed before i upgrade to 41.03, so how do i clean them out when i boot back up they install again automaticly?
