unable to access router config

Post by silkman »

K here's the problem I got a linksys router, I have connection to the net for both of my comp but when i try to access the router config by typing in 192.168.1.1 i get a error page in explorer. To regain access i have to reset my router and it'll work for like couple days and after that i get another error page again. Is there any setting i'm suppose to set to prevent this error?

Is your firmware up to date? Router sitting in a location where it's getting hot...possibly getting near the point of overheating?

When you cannot access the page, at that point, can you ping the router with positive replies?

Empty out your temp internet files.

location of router is ok. No temp problem running pretty normal and cool. But I can still ping the router when i'm unable to access the config page.

Edit:BTW how do you check what firmware version you have for your router?

Heh, gotta successfully log onto the web admin page...you'll see the version listed right there.

k i think i fixed the problem. Having remote management enable is bad. Just read a article about it at slashdot.org. :)
