I own half life, since it came with my radeon. honestly... i never really even tried it.
I'll have give it a try. I remember it used to freeze up on me, but I'm sure I've fixed the problem by now. plus, I didnt bother getting into too much since it was more of a multiplayer game. I'd lvoe to play it multiplayer, but since it's older I'm assuming I'd be getting in TOO late to bother and get any good.

RTCW isn't worth getting unless u play MP... SP seems a little boring and altho the first time I went thru the game it was very enjoyable, the 2nd time around I got so bored with it... MP I'm still playing lots of... get RTCW: Enemy Territory as that will have bots that respond to voice commands, sorta like in UT2003 in team play mode...
I'm playing NHL 2003 now but many pple don't like it compared to previous ones... I tried the demo and loved it from the first drop of the puck...

I just played Half Life for the first time last month. It was a good game.. it kept my interest throughout, but it was nothing to wow about. In my opinion.. Sierra did a crappy job on the whole engine and I have no desire to try CounterStrike, especially since I'm more into the single player games rather than Multiplayer.
RTCW was awesome! but the single player replay value is non-existent.. I felt the same way about Max Payne as well.
I'm currently playing Allied Assault. I'm very hooked so far.. no complaints yet..

you do realize Half Life came out in 1998 right
at the time it was an awesome game with an awesome engine
remember, the vid cards of those days were TNT2 / Voodoo2 / Rage Pro / 128
so for the time it was good... yes the engine is way old now...
but back then i really enjoyed the single player half life game.. played it all the way through, twice!

yes, I realize it came out in '98, but even then wasn't the quake & unreal engine out then? Those two games are way better in my opinion, especially the physics. I didn't like some of the parts in half life when jumping was essential... it just seemed to me that the jumping was kinda awkward.. No real beef with the game... it was still great... just not what I was hoping for.
I would rather play the even older, Doom II or Duke Nukem 3d..

HOW DARE YOU! Half-Life is THE greatest game EVER created. :![]()
LOL, I'm not tryin' to diss Half Life, it was good. Greatest game? eehhh... I'm sure I'm not the only one who would argue against that one. There are too many other games that I found far more addictive. Perhaps if I would have played it in '98 I would respect it a little more, BUT like I said above, I would rather play Doom II or Duke Nukem 3d anyday..
