I highly doubt that they have a video card strong enough to handle ol UTK2003 graphics. Needs to be at least a 16 meg with Open-GL capability. As far as getting directx 8, just go to microsoft.com and get the exe for it.

I wouldn't really waste the effort trying to get it to run on a school computer. I'm surprised someone from the school hasn't berated you for it yet.

That's what they said about my generation back when I got my Atari 2600 in '79 :D

Now look at us...

Wait...

Don't look...

Nevermind.

You be surprised of the new computers the school systems are buying. My school just got three new labs (about 100 computers) of pentium 4 2.53ghz systems each with 512mb ram. I'm sure these workstations come with adequate graphics cards.
^All this for word processing and powerpoint presentations... what a waste.

Its a Dell with a 1.6ghz and 255mb ram its runnin 2k pro and im not sure about vid card but i think it should be at least a 16mb seein how its a brand new comp ive d/l the exe and its a self-extracting file so i cant tell it where to install so when it gets done extracting and then i get the message that i cant install anything because im not an admin. so i need to be an admin or find away to get around that and ill be playin. now the comp did let me install the actual game but not directx how goofy is that.

Your set up as a restricted user, it won't let you install anything that alters systems files, such as DirectX does.

in other words either log in as the administrator or youw on't be able to play because of restrictions on the computer

there is most likely a reason WHy they have the computers restricted in the first place

installing programs that alter system files is one of them

d3d

ut2k3 was developed with d3d in mind... ogl is only there for compatability sakes... if you have problems with d3d etc... the game runs default on and better with d3d...

I wasted a good amount of computer lab in high school playing Commander Keen and Wolfenstein 3D. It was either that or use the old blue-screen DOS version of Wordperfect.

The bad thing was, they didn't even have the keyboard overlays on so I had no idea how to format anything.
