Which utility will monitor PCs on a home network?
At work I have a WatchGuard firewall on a server.
The Watchguard has a nifty network monitoring utility that graphically depicts each workstation, the IP addresses they're connected to, etc. As people surf the net, do email, etc. it updates realtime.
I'd like to install a similar utility on my network at home. It's a small 5 PC file-sharing network with a hub and I distrubute cable access using a Linksys router.
The utility doesn't need to have a graphical display like the Watchguard. Any display showing all PCs, updating realtime, displaying IP addresses and hopefully resolving names would be fine.
I tried Link Logger, but unless I didn't explore it thoroughly, it doesn't seem to fit the bill.
Any recommendatoins welcome.
Thanks,
CH

3COM's Network Supervisor? Gives you a topology of the network, but I'm not sure about "big brother watching" features to see what users are doing/abusing.

Since the logging capabilities of your Linksys falls far short of your WatchGuard (as does the price), there isn't a utility like what you're looking for. Link Logger is as far as it goes for the Linksys.
If you want to see the raw logging data sent out by the Linksys in Link Logger then go to the Router setup (Edit->Setup...->Router tab) and enable record raw logging data (we recommend only doing this for a short time as the Messages Report will get rather full). The raw Linksys logging data will appear in the Messages Report and you will see that the Linksys doesn't have the logging detail of your WatchGuard. The Linksys only does what we call connection logging.
Link Logger captures all messages sent out by the Linksys and non-traffic messages (including the extended logging messages) are displayed in the Messages Report.
