this is copied from a thread i started in online gaming. but they told me to bring it here instead.
i use cable, i play cs pretty much all day and i basically live on it. but theres been a problem lately. i use to get everywhere i went 120ms, now im lucky if i get 120ms at midnite (more bandwidth for me and less traffic everywhere else aswell) and im usually seeing 300ms (but my network admin wont do anything unless it goes over 400ms)
and ive tried everything i know how to do, ive given my IRQ11 more memory for my ethernet card. ive tried DR.TCP (from http://www.dslreports.com ) and ive tried cablenut ( http://www.cablenut.com ) ive tried changing my rwin, well just about everything you can with a cable modem in that area.
and then i found my way here and i figured some of you guys could help and im at a loss now cause i dont know what to do anymore
NOTE: pings are like this everywhere every game but my d/l speeds are decent so they dont know whats wrong. (ive even tried in game tweaks) and my rwin is decent i think. its set at the highest dslreports tells me to set it
bad ping times

my isp is the same. I used to play CS cpnstantly but since FEB. for 4 months now I have pinged from 500 to over 1000. Doesnt matter what server or time I try. Your ISP just sucks like mine and your isp doesnt care. You are only one person that demands great service and they have 1000's other that only use their cable for dl'ing porn and chatting which have no clue what a good connection is other than they can cyber sex faster now. SO they dont complain when they run a little slower. All you can do is keep complaining every day to your isp and hopefully they will get tired of you calling. Mine did. But when they finally did come out they didnt do anythign but say "Yep your not getting good service" ANd left. Maybe you will have better luck.

Not to worry - Your problem will be going away soon.
So will your internet service.
Sorry for the joke at your expense, but Adelphia is likely to shut down within a couple of weeks. The problem is theirs, a result of a lack of connection bandwidth or circuituous routings. It is apt to get worse as their circuit providers shout them off for non-payment.
