perhaps if you refreshed the monitor in the device manager?

Sometimes it'll change monitor drivers on you, for no reason. Check that as well.

I would reboot into Safe Mode (F-8 on the bootup), remove any/all monitors listed in Device Mangler, reboot, let a new monitor driver load.

I'm not a fan of letting Windoze load the generic "Plug 'n Play" monitor, instead, hit your monitor makers website, and download the latest driver for it, and force that driver in. So Device Mangler shows the proper monitor. Windoze, especially ME, has quite a large driver library built into the cabs, so changing the driver manually, showing all devices, can produce quite a list. But still, the latest driver from the makers website is best.

I just shut off my monitor when I'm done though, leave 'puter running. The monitor is the biggest 'lectricity user.
