They spent a lot of time fine-tuning those instructions, and I have yet to see a failure, IF you follow the directions.

You say you have have DHCP, the instructions and script on the W2K ramdrive page clearly show the "net start dhcp" command, yet it doesn't show up in your script.
What's up with that? Do you or don't you have DHCP?
If you do, then you must follow the directions or the TcpIp stack on the ramdrive won't work.

If you are behind a router you don't need or want DHCP, the addresses should be assigned for best network compatibility and boot speed. And if that were the case you wouldn't need the DHCP service from the OS or the Linksys. (You do have only one or the other turned on, right?)

I've tried this way serveral times. the bat file hangs on afd.
I also tried turning off the dhcp from the router this time. Still no luck.

@echo on

Echo Starting TCP/IP Services

copy h:\winnt\System32\DRIVERS\tcpip.sys Z:\
copy h:\winnt\System32\DRIVERS\afd.sys Z:\

net start afd
net start tcpip
net start dhcp

ipconfig

I was wondering, why would the files be on H Drive? I can't think of a reason why you would have that much drives assigned.

Normally, 2 OSes, CDROM/DVD/Burner, the ideal setup, only takes max of 5 drives, unless you are on a network or something I guess.

Here, try this if you have your windows on C drive

@echo on

Echo Starting TCP/IP Services

copy c:\winnt\System32\DRIVERS\tcpip.sys h:\
copy c:\winnt\System32\DRIVERS\afd.sys h:\

net start afd
net start tcpip
net start dhcp

ipconfig

I really don't mean to jump in here but isn't that a little overkill? It shouldn't make any difference what drive it's on. Actually my XP is on the I drive.

Dual Boot 2K/XP.

A: Floppy
C: W2K
D: Programs
E: Zip Drive
F: DVD/CD
G: CD/Burner
I: XP

etc.......

Question I would have is how is your boot setup? Youy get the option screen as to which OS to start? XP first?

It seems to me the problem is either in his boot up, path or the registry. Are you sure the path to tcpip & afd are correct?

my .02 and excuse me for jumping in
