Old thermal paste?
Old thermal paste?
I recently put together a box for a friend using a 1.2ghz tbird, 38 cfm 6800rpm delta sk6 on an asus A7V 133-C. His cpu temp at load is 59 C. That seems a bit high for sk6 temps with the mini jet engine on it (i was expecting 35-40 at load). Anyway, the thermal paste i used was artic silver that i bought well over 16months ago. Does this stuff crap out after time? The only other thing i can think of is that is temp probe is right up against the processor.
As far as I know, as long as the past is sealed it will keep for a very long time. If it was open for that long a period of time I would be inclined to spend the couple of extra bucks just to be safe.

Well the tempratures that you are hopping to get is for INTEL CPUs !!!
For the AMD ones ,there is another story ..
I have read about temprature skors like 75 Celsius in AMD CPUs , under that number , your friends skor look better ..
Any way this is just my opinion.
Another question can be , like how much paste did you put on it ??
terrancelam knows more about AMD stuff ,send him a PM to get some extra help ..

The thermal paste I used on my duron800 to attach my vantec 9035d copper fan was over 4 years old. Plus, it was generic radio shack thermal paste.
The 800 is running stable at 1027 and never goes above 140F. Usually it hovers around 115F with a full load.
Yes, it's fine.
