CPU temps to high

Post by DEVX2K »

Can anyone recomend a good CPU fan. I have a AMD 1.01 GHZ processor. ASUS V133A Board and 266 MB of SDRAM. My cpu temp is reading 52 degrees. Currently I have a thermaltake mini superorb cooling it (that is loud as hell by the way) but I don't think its doing the job. I also used the the thermal paste before installing the fan. I'm thinking I might as well start cooking at my desk with this temperature.

My AMD runs at 50C idle. This is normal for an AMD. If you want a good fan go with a Dragon Orb 3 from Thermaltake. Loud as hell but it should be cheap with all these new fans coming out into the market. You may also want to lower your CPU Core voltage from your Bios.
BTW what monitor is reading your CPU temp? Asus Probe is known to add a few degrees to CPU temp.

I've got a Golden Orb with a candle in the middle sitting right in front of me... ;) I got the idea from [H], I think....anyways, when it's dark and you want to check if your fan is working, don't stick your finger in it....the fins break ;) ;)

I don't think that's too hot if the CPU is doing any real work.

I am running a Thermaltake Volcano II on my AMD 1Ghz with one case fan in front drawing cool air in and a second fan at the back of the case blowing warm air out. My CPU Temp is around 41 degrees most of the time.

hsf runs about 45 when it's cooler (But the heat wasn't on in the house yet), right now it runs about 47 idle and 57 full load. I do have a PSU blocking (But sucking the air out, dual fan on the psu) the exhaust from the fan (I have a reverse set up on the hsf.) Need better air circulation, some of the hot air in my system is being recycled.

I would have to say, you either have very bad air circulation, or you've been sold an oc'ed system. :)

on mine I got the KG7 non raid I use VIA HWM to monitor voltages and temps
since I upgraded to v 2.05
it 's mixing the temps
board and CPU up..
or at least I'm pretty sure it is since.
right now it says;
CPU Current: 35C
SYS Current: 49C
wtf..
lol it's GOT to be mixed up..

I don't have a case cooling fan. Wil that realyy make a diffrenece? 52 degrees is the idle temp. Think I should bite the bullet and grab huge fan?

What do you think of these? Or any suggestions?
Does the faster the RPM mean the louder it will be?
