Newbie needs help...Please

Post by Dakota455 »

Well I've never done this kind of stuff before, but I thought I would give it a try anyway. So read Lobo's help page several times so that I could do it right the first time.
Well here is what I did.

1. Backed up the reg.
2. installed CableNut
3. Installed Windows update For Vtcp386
4. Installed the @Home Speed Patch

Here what I get.

SpeedGuide.net TCP/IP Analyzer
TCP properties for IP = xxxxxxxxxxxx ()
Note: Read the FAQ if the above is not your IP address.
Browser/OS = Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows 98; Hotbar 3.0)

TCP options string = 020405b401010402

MTU = 1500
MTU is fully optimized for broadband.

MSS = 1460
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1460, which is equal to MSS.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 65535
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 65535
Note: Under Windows 9x, if you have RWIN set to any other value, and the Analyzer reports 65535 you might need to install the MS Vtcp386 fix.
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
513920 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
256960 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
128480 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
64240 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2621.4 kbps (327.675 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1048.56 kbps (131.07 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 35 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

31107 connections tested since 03.10.2001.
Analyzer version: Beta 0.99

I tried to change my RWIN settings in CableNut Adjuster with the differant values that I had seen in other posts, but the changes never seem to be saved after rebooting, at least according to the Analyzer. Not sure what I'm doing! Help please!!!

It said nothing about loading a ccs file on help thread, at bottom of adjuster, click on delete Cablenut tweaks, REBOOT, then RIGHT click on SG's patch where you unzipped it to, up to install or merge, LEFT click, reboot :) :)

Please click in my signature where it says Test tweak here, then:
At top where it says edit click and select, Select all,
Then go back to same edit button at top, click and select copy.
Come back to Speedguide, same thread you were on, in post reply box, with cursor blinking at begining of box go to top, edit, click, select paste, click, this will put information in box. Please X out your IP address, Thank you. :)

All programs to not operate right with spyware removed :)

From Ad-Aware:
Q: What will happen to the program if I remove the spyware?
A: It depends on the program you are using. Some will continue to function, after you have removed the spyware, and others will stop functioning.
