Netgear Router Problems!

Post by wzoo1 »

I am having serious problems with my Netgear RT314 Router. I think the hardware is fried. I didn't even upgrade the firmware. I just stoped working one day. I can't even login to my router settings! When I try to go to 192.168.0.1 in my web browser it says "Cannot find server." And when I try to telnet to 192.168.0.1 it says"Cannot open a telnet conection to 192.168.0.1". I REALLY NEED HELP!!! PLEASE HELP!

have you changed your ip address for any reason lately?

Sounds like you might have to fix whatever happened through the serial port. This is when it's a very good time to have that option. Saves a ton of hassle and you can reflash your ROM yourself.

Have you tried powering off the router and restarting it? Might just need a reboot.

Also are you sure it is the router and not your connection to the router? Check your cat5 cable and also try renewing your ip address using winipcfg at the run program prompt. Lastly I would try going to your device manager and deleting your network card. Reboot your computer and allow windows to reinstall and reconfigure it. If it is not detected by windows on reboot then likely your network card is bad.

I hope this helps.

I've had my Zonealarm not let me in before, so I had to turn it off to get in.

But I've also had it where nothing worked except what BlueJetta has suggested. That was my only out on a couple of occasions.
(sometimes I just like to play around too much ;) )
