TW/RR update

Post by Mystic »

Been a while since I gave a little update. For those that want to know whats going on with the RR defrauding issue, little has happened so far but i'm promised that something is going to happen.

My State Attorney Generals office is still investigating the matter as new information has come to light involving a more wide spread issue than just the defrauding issue. Seems that the RR claims in their advertisement of "Lightening fast" is deceptive as well.

Also, it has recently been learned that RR has recently been experimenting with further reducing the bandwidth again. In several areas of the country beginning around the first of May 2001 users began to notice radical changes in their bandwidth. This came around the time that RR announced new "network management" work to be performed. This "network management" was to focus on email service and the like however it doesn't look like its just that.

A chance conversation between one of our group and a local RR business class service representative revealed that RR is planning on going to a symetrical bandwidth of 3mb/s down and 3mb/s up for the business class service. At the same time that this was beginning to be put into place - even tho it hasn't been officially sold or announced yet in some areas of the country, users began noticing a change in their bandwidth. Thru testing it has been determined that this new level of service for non-business class customers is now 1.5 mb/sec down instead of the 2mb/s that RR officially declaired late last year. This change of course , again, was un-announced and is being actively denied by RR just like they did last year when they reduced the bandwidth from 10mb/s to 2mb/s. So now. again, instead of paying less money for less bandwidth , you'll actually be paying more for less- again.

An independant engineering consulting firm has been contacted and will be conducting tests to determine the validity of this. I'll get back with those interested with the results.

That does sound like a ripoff!

Dont they know that, even tons of uncapped users, cant even get past 1.5Mb/sec upstream, so how can they provide 3mbps on upstream?

Looks like RR is playin games with your money

I dont know about you, but I originally signed for the 2mb download and 300k upload speed, I was getting 1950 k download which is as close as you can get to 2mb and 280k upload speed, which was great, now it's even better as I get the same download speed 1950 and now I get 370k upload speed, from the looks of things they have upgraded their upload speed 100k, I live in brooklyn, ny and have been happy with the service since my march instalation, cya and have a nice day. :D

Up until June 16th, the most recent down time of the system, I was getting 2500/367 Tweaked. After this service interruption, my speeds have dropped to 1700-1800 down and 367 up. My local Cable Company, Time- Warner is insisting that there is nothing wrong and nothing new. Sorry, I'm not buying that line of bull!
Mystic, I know full well how they play this little game. They make the subscriber think that they're the ones that's crazy and nothing has changed.

I have a beef with this line below-right off the homepage,

Road Runner High Speed Online uses fiber-optic magic to bring you the fastest Internet connection around - Over 50 times faster than the speediest telephone modems!

Oh Really! Tell me why I went from 49 times faster (I Accept this) to 30 to 35 times faster in the course of one service interruption?
I believe there is truth to everything your hearing Mystic and it's all just starting to happen in my area. I don't know about the business class stuff, but I'm going to try and check into it.
