Hi David

Yes they did indeed do the nasty. :)

they have really done their homework and i do believe they are not through yet.

they still want to move Hogland & Perrault, the latter being good trade bait.

imho they still need some muscle up front. 6'2 or more and nasty.

their defense i think will be ok, as they have Dempsey in the minors who showed well

when up. his problem is a two way contract he's saddled with.

Belak looks like he can do something in the toughness dept as well back there.

They also signed a Euro Goalie for the minors, but who looks like he may be a player.

so far David i'm very pleased with their effort's.

hopefully we'll meet again next year. it was a good series that.

Larry,

The Swedish goalie they picked up is one of the best in Europe.

This might be the Leafs year!

I am sitting around waiting for the Wings to make some more moves. I know they are going to get rid of Osgood eventually... I am happy with the moves made thus far, just need one or two more players ... we need one more guy that can play great two way hockey....

Hi David

indeed the goalie Toronto picked up is very highly regarded, Healy has been placed

on waivers & Mikael Tellqvist will be backing Joseph this year.

I hate to see Healy go as he was well liked and did a stellar job as backup
(not an easy position to play)

it appears that the Devils have an interest in Perrault

(very underrated player in my opinion) if he has a tough linemate, he raises his game
it seems to me.

i am looking forward to the new season with relish

This is the online Leafs site for anyone interested. you can join their booster club and get updates etc.

High Guy's, this just in

MAPLE LEAFS SIGN ANDERS ERIKSSON

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Wednesday that the club has agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent defenceman Anders Eriksson. As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Eriksson gained unrestricted status by not receiving a qualifying offer from the Florida Panthers. Eriksson, 26, completed his fourth full National Hockey League season in 2000-2001 with Florida. He recorded 21 points (all assists) in 60 games for Florida after being acquired from Chicago on November 6, 2000 in exchange for Jaroslav Spacek.

He collected two goals and three assists in 13 games last season with the Blackhawks prior to the trade. He placed third among Panthers' defencemen in points (21) and he was second in club defencemen in assists (21) and power-play points (14). Against the Maple Leafs this past season, Eriksson recorded his 100th NHL point on March 17 and he registered a Panthers' career-high 32:03 of ice time December 4 at Air Canada Centre.

He led all NHL rookies in plus-minus (+21) during the 1997-98 season while playing for Detroit and he capped the season by recording five assists in 18 playoff games during the Red Wings' drive to the 1998 Stanley Cup championship.

The native of Bollnas, Sweden was originally Detroit's first round draft choice, 22nd overall, in the 1993 Entry Draft. His international hockey experience includes two appearances in the World Junior Championships (WJC). Eriksson earned a Silver Medal in 1994 and a Bronze Medal as well as being named to the WJC First All-Star Team in 1995. He also captured a Gold Medal with Sweden at the 1992 European Championships.

The latest update on the Leaf's has Perrault going to the Habs

I liked him, So good for him. twice the salary too.
Perreault lines up to face off for Montreal

Centre Yanic Perreault joined the Habs as an unrestricted free agent after the

troubled team had let Shayne Corson, Darcy Tucker, Dave Manson and

Jonas Hoglund eventually end up with the rival Leafs.

Perreault, a Sherbrooke, Que., native, goes home for $8.4 million US.

His $2.8-million annual stipend is more than double his Leafs salary of last year

and he gets about five chances during the regular season to beat the team that

discarded him

The Devil reputation (Lou) of hard negotiations are going to reduce this team to an also ran.... or even a cut rate team in a year or two....

Hi Hell_Yes

I hope your enjoying a couple of days off.

i agree with you there. The take it or leave it situation can grow thin real quick.

It's one thing when your winning Cup's , but quite another when you do not.

A player will stay for the privilege of having his name engraved, but not for long.

i think Lou is wasting his time if he thinks he can reform the League on salaries.

someone will always pony up when the time is ripe.

Hopefully for their fans he pulls off a major trade soon.

i do like what appears to be a commitment by the Leafs to go for it this year.

they still have several defencemen they can move and Hogland & some minor league
people with potential as well.

i think another trade may be in the offing as well ?

take care David
