DSL Help! Upgraded Need Help.

Post by SSky11 »

I upgraded my DSL from 640/90 to 1.5/128. Ok I see no difference, verizon said my order went through and I should see a speed increase. NOW Im thinking its my tweaking settings. How can I fix this?

Please click in my signature where it says Test your tweak here, then:
At top where it says edit click and select, Select all,
Then go back to same edit button at top, click and select copy.
Come back to Speedguide, same thread you were on, in post reply box, with cursor blinking at begining of box go to top, edit, click, select paste, click, this will put information in box. Please X out your IP address, Thank you.
Please include OS & system specs in your reply :) :)

Windows 98se
750Mhz Duron
128 PC 133 RAM
GeForceMX 2 32MB
Verizon DSL- 1.5/128 Upgrade (Suppose to be)
This RWIN really works with my system.

TCP options string = 020405ac0103030001010402

MTU = 1492
MTU seems to be optimized for PPPoE... If you are not on a PPPoE connection, consider increasing your MTU to 1500 for optimal throughput.

MSS = 1452
Maximum useful data in each packet = 1452, which is equal to MSS.
MSS is optimized for PPPoE. If you are not on a PPPoE connection, consider increasing your MTU value.

Default Receive Window (RWIN) = 64240
RWIN Scaling (RFC1323) = 0 bits
Unscaled Receive Window = 64240
For optimum performance, consider changing RWIN to a multiple of MSS.
Other values for RWIN that might work well with your current MTU/MSS:
511104 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 8)
255552 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 4)
127776 (MSS x 44 * scale factor of 2)
63888 (MSS x 44)

bandwidth * delay product:
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 2569.6 kbps (321.2 KBytes/s) @ 200ms
Your RcvWindow limits you to: 1027.84 kbps (128.48 KBytes/s) @ 500ms

MTU Discovery (RFC1191) = ON

Time to live left = 50 hops
TTL value is ok.

Timestamps (RFC1323) = OFF

Selective Acknowledgements (RFC2018) = ON

IP type of service field (RFC1349)= 00000000

There must be a mistake. There is no way Verizon upgraded you that quickly. I ordered my upgrade before you and I'm still waiting for it to be activated, it takes 15 business days.

Let's see some speed tests. Click the speed test link in my signature and copy/paste your results here. I'll see what we can do.

I just looked at your RWIN. It's optimized for an MTU set to 1500. Try 63888 instead.

Your download speed : 514733 bps, or 514 kbps.
Browsers would show : about a 62.8 k/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 102827 bps, or 102 kbps.

I got these speeds my last CAP.

They lied to you man. Try RWIN 522720 and see if it helps any.

I see your upload is higher than 90kbps, was it always like that?
