The wife is getting these messages at several websites. She uses my computer so she can duplicate the problem but it works just fine on mine. Google has lots of advice but most of it doesn't work. I would think there is a registry hack or a setting within Chrome to deal with this. Most of the tools in Chrome didn't meet my needs.
Anyone want to offer a suggestion?

Have you tried SUPERAntiSpyware or Malwarebytes?

The error itself says that a SSL Security certificate date for that site is invalid. You should be able to click on the text "NET::ERR_CERT_DATE_INVALID" and get more details...
It could be related to the date on the computer being set incorrectly, especially if you are getting it on multiple sites. It could also be your router/modem on the network preventing the connection because it doesn't like the certificate date for some reason. I would also check for malware, and make sure you run a current version of the browser, but the first step would be to actually check the certificate, it's date, who it is issued to, and your own PC date/time.

Along with Philips post there is another setting that may be the "Initial" culprit, and another reason you're seeing that message
I don't use Chrome, so you'll have to find this setting in chrome....
When you want to have the browser use https instead of http for more secure pages.
But - by changing back to using http - you will be vulnerable to "shady sites" so don't do it.
If you normally get to that site ok, and you trust that site then click advance and go ahead to the site, if not then go "back to safety"
It is always possible that site has been hijacked.
To be safe as possible, just wait till they get their "chit" in order and update their certificate.
edit - Oh, and some sites don't have an https certificate and can't be "upgraded" to https, and if your setting is forcing use of https you will get that message.
If you want to keep "YOUR" sheep safe, get a guard dog that outwieighs YOU.

I loaded FireFox for her to see if that makes a difference.
Currently she's doing some on-line shopping.
I'll get back to you on what FF does at those websites.
