To be honest....not worth it.
Windows XP is going to be useless on the internet in another several months. Not many peripherals will be supporting it anymore, as new hardware will not support it, and finding older drivers for older hardware for XP will be more and more difficult. New software can't be installed on it like accounting and antivirus. So donating it in reality just ends up causing the recipient to deal with discarding it in a few months.
Computer hardware over 10 years old..that vintage processor dates back with the early Pentium 4's...it's 10+ years old. Installing new/current operating systems will result in poor performance.
We throw out hardware newer than that....because there's not much we can do with it. We only keep/rebuild C2D or newer now.
Properly dispose of it, or perhaps get 5 maybe 10 bucks for it at a local scrap metal dump.

Thanks guys maybe I could give it to some local kid. It does fine surfing the web. But as previously mentioned it is pretty difficult finding new drivers and such. Oh well. I gave it to my four year old to do her schoolwork and surf the web on and I bought her a digital piano for Christmas......yea guess what.....yea it won't run FL Studio. So I have to build her a new one.
Unless the soundcard drivers do not work with " ASIO4all " it really should !Cameron203 wrote:yea guess what.....yea it won't run FL Studio. So I have to build her a new one.
I have a similar system with 2 GB of ram, two 120 GB hard drives and the CPU is a 1.7Ghz with FL Studio 10, runs good.

I bought her a Yamaha DGX-650, I have FL Studio 11 it installs fine but will not run. It says under system specs at least dual core I believe. It was my fault didn't read the fine print. lol
