most modems are blank passwords and "Admin" as usernames...but just skip it and use the reset button.

You mean Router I assume.

admin/password

admin/password1

admin/admin

are the ones verizon uses

a quick google would have told you that

If none of those works then you would have to do a hard reset

none work. I call it modem as they do but i assume its a gateway. It says it is model # m1424wr. I cant find anything on google for it as I tried "I " as well instead of 1.

Yes but you will also lose any settings you may have in there, ie. port forwarding, dmz, wep passwords etc

actiontec make you set a username and password the first time you access it so it really could be anything. This includes the dialup.dsl, and fios versions.

Correct but Verizon is the first one to access it and they put in their default stuff.

From Verizon site,
What are the default user name and password for my Actiontec MI424WR router?
The default user name for the Actiontec MI424WR router is "admin," and the default password is "password" (do not include the quotation marks).

Note: To improve security, your router password may have been changed to the serial number of your Actiontec MI424WR router if you hadn't previously changed the password from the default of "password." You can find your router's serial number on the label affixed to the bottom or back of your router.
If you reset your router to the factory default settings, the router password will return to "password."
The user name and password are both case-sensitive, so be sure to enter them in lower case.

All the Verizon setups I've done....the password has been changed and is assigned to yours and yours only, usually the number on the sticker affixed to the bottom of the unit (like Unholy linked above)...or tied in with your PPPoE password.

These are things that are documented when your account was setup...should be kept for reference...for cases such like this.

Most common I have seen by verizons techs is "Password12" adn multiple variants of that i.e. password12 Password12 Password1 But like I said, If anyone ever reset the router after the tech, they would have had to pick a password
