I used a tripod with my external flash in daylight at 1000-2000 shutter speed,4.0 to 6.3 aperture with a wireless remote and my 50D with my 24-105L,
and we get these guys all year long all day long !

thanks,
I thought it was a ruby throated,I'm really not sure,
but looking here >
http://www.worldofhummingbirds.com/incl ... gbird.html you look right,
I know you are better at bird id's than I am.
maybe it was two different birds ? a male and a female ?
they kept leaving and then coming right back for a minute, then repeating that all day.
either way, they are always here ! it's very cool,we love it.
