Windows 7 and Microsoft Office 2007

Post by stu2 »

I made up a worksheet with Excell 2007 and took it to work but the Windows XP could not open it because of them being different operating systems.

Is there a file I could download to convert and open files made by Windows 7.

Thanks a lot.

It's not related to the operating system, it's related to the version of Office.
With Office 2007, products default to saving files in the new extended format, such as .DOCX for a Winword file instead of the older .DOC.

2x ways to approach this for users of older versions of Office.
Easiest..those users of older versions of Office can install the Microsoft Office 2007 Compatibility Pack...which they should have been prompted to do so when attempting to open the new files.

Or...set the Office products on the newer 2007 user to save in the older file format for legacy users.
