***PC1***On this pc these setting as:
« SpeedGuide.net TCP Analyzer Results »
Tested on: 01.20.2010 21:55
IP address: 68.xxx.xxx.xx
Client OS: Windows XP
TCP options string: 020405b40103030101010402
MSS: 1460
MTU: 1500
TCP Window: 128480 (multiple of MSS)
RWIN Scaling: 1 bits (2^1=2)
Unscaled RWIN : 64240
Recommended RWINs: 64240, 128480, 256960, 513920, 1027840
BDP limit (200ms): 5139kbps (642KBytes/s)
BDP limit (500ms): 2056kbps (257KBytes/s)
MTU Discovery: ON
TTL: 48
Timestamps: OFF
SACKs: ON
IP ToS: 00000000 (0)
and Windows Scaling is checked n TTL 64
***PC2***The other pc has these settings as different:
TCP Window: 256960 (multiple of MSS)
TTL: 106
And has Windows Scaling unchecked n TTL 128
As I think I understand the lower the TTL the better cause it has a chance to clog up the network with dropped packers but is it the same with wireless cause you have to watch latency and the TCP window should be higher? Should Windows Scaling be checked or unchecked btw?
So what settings would be optimal for both the pcs. They both have a Dell Wireless 1450 USB Adapter w/ driver from 6/1/2006 (I think that's the latest driver for this), and Optimum Online has the advertised speed of 15Mbps/2Mbps
2 of the same pcs w/ same wireless, different settings tho

Window scaling should be checked in XP for RWIN higher than 65535.d2fanatic007 wrote:k, what about ttl 64 is good or 128 and should windows scaling be checked or unchecked
TTL set to 64 should be enough to surf around the world. Have not seen any tracerts hitting 50 hops or more yet.
