Hi there! I don't really know much about wifi set-ups and would really appreciate any advice on how to solve this long-distance wifi problem!
Our house is in rural Jamaica with no access to phone lines or wifi. We do however have access to broadband wifi at another residence 3km (as the crow flies) away, with a clear line of site between the two points.
We're in desperate need of internet access at the house, so need to find the best way of creating a point-to-point wifi set-up between the 2 locations as soon as possible.
Would this distance be possible with some kind of antenna set-up? And would it be possible for us to set it up ourselves? We do have a pre-existing satellite dish which can be used as a receiver, and can order parts from the USA or UK if needed.
Any advice on how we could make this work would be amazing, and would get us one step closer to contact with the world!!
Thank you!
