Anti Virus with Network Management

Post by reaser »

I currently use Symantec Endpoint Protection which gives me a server to manage all the installs and users. I'd like to replace it with something more memory friendly. The memory leaks in SEP are horrible. The real time scanner bogs down systems at first login anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. Systems ranging between 512mb and 2gb of ram.

I tried searching the forum but didn't really find anything relevant. I've tried looking at reviews on several products but haven't found anything that gives me info on memory leaks.

I'd like to hear from users with hands on and some experience with different products. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I use Eset Business Edition antivirus for most of my clients, and I also do virus and spyware scanning at the gateway level with Untangle.

What version of SEP are you using? Their most recent one is lightened up quite a bit from what I've read, since 2 versions ago they greatly overhauled and lightened up their home products.

I am currently using 11.05. I was running 11.02 and some of the machines were having a problem when logging in the scan service would take 20 to 40% of the processor bring the systems not to a crawl but an annoying slow pace.

I'll see if 11.05 fixed this memory leak.
