Wireless Connection to Printer

Post by Watch5869 »

Setting up network on new comp. I thought I set everything for networking with existing printer on old comp but not working. When I try to print, the printer starts up as it normally does and rumbles and grinds for about ten seconds then when it would normally start to print, it just stops! nada

Any help would be appreciated. (Trying to network old XP with new Vista)

What changed?
The IP range?
Is the wireless print server on a static IP?
Is each of the XP and the Vista machines printing directly to the printers IP address? Because mixing XP and Vista as far as sharing a printer from one...often doesn't work, OS's 'n drivers too different.

I may have mis-stated the problem. The XP machine (DHCP) is wired directly to the printer. The new vista is being connected thru the LAN using a Samsung universal driver provided by the Mfg. (win2000/xp/2003/vista/2008)
