Urgent Help [ Computer Pros ] Or Anyone.
I know this isn't the place to post this, but I am literally going crazy with my computer.
Here are the Specs :
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7 CPU 920 @ 2.67 GHZ
Memory : 3GB DDR3 RAM
System : Windows Vista 64-bit
Graphic : ATI RADEON HD 4850 - Latest ATI Catalyst 9.4 Drivers
Problem is that when I try to play games,( Counter-Strike, MMORPGs, you name it), I can enter game just fine, play for few seconds up to 5-10 Minutes before the game freezes, computer locksup, and reboots itself.(Sometimes I have to reboot the computer myself). I have look all over the internet for help, and try so many methods, but nothing is working.
If someone could please help me, I can't afford a new computer, this one is pretty new about 3 months old.

Give me a fish, and you feed me for a day, teach me to fish and I won't be so damn lazy.

It sounds like heat or the power supply might be likely. Plus you may be able to go into the BIOS to stop it from rebooting when there is a problem. A generic Blue screen instead of rebooting might give you more info to what the problem is.

Not a hardware problem, I am pretty sure. And everything is update as far as bios/drivers whatever. I am hopeless there is no fix, I have search the whole entire Internet, and I am not alone with this problem, there are many out there.

Why did you post if you already 'knew' the answer?Gandalf wrote:Not a hardware problem, I am pretty sure. And everything is update as far as bios/drivers whatever. What is your power supply? I need complete specs or at least the model number. Sounds to me like it's a PSU issue where the PSU isn't able to deliver enough to the vid card.
Please post the PSU make/type/model # and any other specs.
I'll go with PSU before it being heat but heat can definitely be an issue. If it is a heat issue, I'd go with the heat sink/fan on the GPU first since this happens under a load.
Do you have a Gigabyte mobo by any chance? In any case, please carefully update your bios for your mobo.

That sounds appropriate.
That was a major pet peeve of mine helping in the hardware forum. You would go out of the way to help others with a question they asked and they never would come back to tell you if it helped or not, so that you could help others in the future with the same problem.

Well it was the bios problem, I have a crap GateWay FX6800. And I kept installing the old bios, not knowing they had newer ones on their site with flash tool. I am very bad with computers, my apologizes when I said my bios were updated, to find out they weren't. And my mistake I do have 4GB not 3GB ram.
Truly sorry friends, I am a NEWB!
