Got my tooth pulled today..

Post by Shinobi »

I had a root canal for about a year or so.. now that got infected.

So one of my new dentists, near my new apartment pulled it out. A very nice guy and about 17 years in the field. He did a great job and I'm lucky it came out in one piece. The only painful part, is I got "7" shots of novocaine before hand. That was worse then the tooth pull itself, but needed. I know my jaw is going be wicked sore tomorrow.. but I'm on those "happy pills" :D :thumb:

Hopefully, you are on antibiotics. Please, do not smoke until the socket is closed!

Amoxicillin 875 mg x 2 a day. I do not smoke. Thanks for the heads up though..

The other root canal that I had was really rough coming out, they had
to really drill it out. This root canal that I just had pulled, came out
really easily, even though it was supposedly crack a bit. I'm hoping that
the dentist got the whole thing in one shot like they said, and did not leave
anything pieces in the socket..

Just had a upper rear tooth pulled about a hour ago, feels better now then when the tooth was in my head.

Dentist advised me not to smoke for a couple days, hell if I could go a few days without nicotine in my system I'd quit.

I wonder if I could smoke through a nostril when I get really hard up. :wth:

yea then ose smoking would be fine. goo luck tho. lol. smoking causes a vacuum in the socket and give you dry socket. pretty much bone exposed to the bare air. some guys in AIT got it from smoking after. they where in a lot of pain. just keep it super moist with gauze

If you start having puss and soreness in the area, I would recommend finding a good computer forum to get a proper diagnosis.

Yep, if you’re good at reading between the lines, any forum can fix any medical problem at any time.

They’re even doing research to prove that internet forums can cure cancer, AIDS and herpes. We’re on the leading edge of curing all of mankind’s ills as we type.

No one asked for a diagnosis.

I was offering friendly advice regarding after care. "Dry socket" can be rather uncomfortable.

Tongue in cheek regarding the "other" thread. Moving on.
