Some advice?

Post by CableDude »

I feel I have become over the last year or so very disorganized in my job and I want to put an end to that like now.

maybe this is do to disinterest, but I don't think that is an excuse.

Anyway by disorganized I mean not finishing projects I start or never resolving problems etc.

If you have any advice on how I can improve, that would be great.

:)

Whether you answer to yourself or to someone else I think it's important to take responsibility for what you undertake. If you get satisfaction from doing something well than do it well. If you half-ass something it may or may not matter if your co-workers notice but you'll always know.

You can't do everything all the time but you can try to finish everything you start and do it well.

I would say, start out setting small goals, seeing them thru to completion and building up from there. Once you get a taste (again) for how good it feels to accomplish something you will be inclined to seek it out in larger achievements.

But what do I know, I can't keep a girlfriend for more than 6 months!
Good luck.

Um, Best thing to do is adopt agile! Create monthly goals and write out exactly what you need to do to accomplish them - take things one month at a time. Also develop a healthy routine and exercise your brain. Hit the gym, eat better food, feel good about yourself, read a book. Its all about goals, some steps to get to those goals and a balance between life and work - if you don't have that balance then I find I am not productive.

Oh, and try and cut the strippers and beer on Fridays to AFTER noon.. not before ;)

um...how about just finishing what you start?

FYI, the failure to complete things you start can be traced to a person or persons you are connected to who are actively seeking to prevent you from doing your job. Isolate who is stopping you, handle them and the situations created, and then finish you work. The best method of handling such people is to just go ahead and finsih the things you began, one at a time, until all are caught up. This will drive the psychos crazy for they cannot themselves ever complete things on their own!
No one has any right to force data on you
and command you to believe it or else.
If it is not true for you, it isn't true.

I = I see there is a problem, no one is complaining about the way I do my job. I want to fix the problem, no one is telling me to fix the problem.

feel = disgust with the environment.

Now = I want the problems to end, today. Not carry on for another year.

Maybe = More factors then just disinterest in the job. Like incompetent co-workers.

:nope: I'm sure there is something in word or excel that I can use.

Planning - Can never plan to do anything at this place. The amount of stupidy that I have to contend with has just become unbearable.

Good question. It's funny you mention that because I was thinking of going to the head and ask to have my job defined because alot of things are very unclear.

I was advised to go in with what I think the job should be.
