intel pro wireless 3945 not transmitting data
intel pro wireless 3945 not transmitting data
I have the intel pro wireless 3645 card in my asus. i run ubuntu and windows. both Oss connect to the host, but no data is transmitted. I can even ping the host, and get a response, but nothing else.
Since you can PING, it sounds to me like your WLAN driver is working fine... The issue appears to be the wireless connection util/app. This is a drive-like utility which communicates on top of you wireless tcp connection.
If you are running WinXP, a builtin client called Wireless Zero Config (WZC) is located in window services (services.msc). Click Start > Run > enter "services.msc"... in the services window, search for wireless zero and make sure it is "Started" & running "Automatic".

So you can view and ping the wireless network (SSID), but you cant get online - correct?
Try each step below individually (1by1), and repost your results..
- An obvious question, but you are able to get online with a wired ethernet connection - yes?
- Signal strength is good to excellent?
- Verify you are at least 6ft (2m) distance from the wRouter/WAP.
- Remove/check for any nearby (3ft/1M) RF interferrence (cordless phones, baby monitor, wireless security/video, nearby microwave, flourscent light, radio/tv, wireless mouse/keybrd, etc) devices.
- Verify the wireless router is NOT using the wNIC's MAC security option, whereby only specific MAC addresses for wireless NIC are allowed access to the network...
- Try to disable ALL PC firewalls.
- Disable the wRouter security (WEP, WPA, etc) and check to see if you run in clear (non-secure) mode.
- In the Windoze "Preferred Networks" list, delete the applicable "preferred" wireless connection & manually re-create a new connection.
- If all else fails HARD RESET the wRouter back the factory setting (again?) and start again.
- It is allows a possibility the wireless fct in the wRouter is bad, have you contacted the wRouter tech support/helpdesk for assistance?
* Describe/list your internet & network setup/config (e.g., isp info:dsl/cable/other+router/modem, any seperate hardware: firewall/routers, any wAPs, switches, hubs, PC info: OS, desktop/laptop, other? etc)...
