Installing an extender

I'm trying to install an Airplus G 2.4 GHz Range Extender.

I am a complete novice w/ wireless networking. I have tried following the set-up tutorial yet cannot get the provided IP address to bring up anything.

The router itself is Westell 327W--are these two devices compatible? Also, do I need to disable any firewall? Any other pointers? :confused:

Do the instructions mention anything about some devices not being compatible with the extender?

As a general rule, make sure the SSID is the same, the encryption is the same (exactly), and any other wireless parameters are the same on both devices.
