Nero burns always fail!

Post by CassandraC »

Hello, I use Nero to burn my dvd's, and dvd shrink to rip them, I never had problems until last week, and now all of my dvds fail! I've tried everything I could think of, if anyone can give me any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Nero does not accept blank DVD+R, only blank DVD-R.

I use dvdSanta to convert videos to DVD and then burn them on blank DVD+R, because the +R discs are selling at a cheaper price.

DVD Shrink hasn't been updated in years and cannot handle some of the copy protection schemes commonly in use.

There are several programs that can do the job. The one I use is DVDFab Decrypter and is freeware. After you rip all of the files to your hard drive you can use DVD Shrink to author a new DVD or you can use Nero.

DVD decrypter is good when dvd shrink fails.

I've never heard of nero not accepting DVD+R discs.

DVD decrypter hasn't been updated in almost two years because the author was threatened with a lawsuit by DRM software developer Macrovision. What's funny is that Macrovison later bought the IP rights of DVD decrypter and now blocks the legal distribution.

Nero has no problem with DVD+R disks that I know of.

Thanks for the tip about RipIt4Me. Looks good and it's free.

I've used AnyDVD and it works well but it is not freeware. (I like things that are free :-) )

Earlier versions of Nero, esp. those that are packaged with the DVD recorder, do not accept blank DVD+R disc. Mine came with Nero 6 Memorex Suite and was working for months until I bought my first batch of DVD+R discs.

Finally I had to uninstall Nero, and have been using dvdSanta since.
