I'm not gonna go as far as to say he's racist. But he still stepped out of line period. When the crowed is giving you a hard time , thats where experience, and being a professional about it comes in. And he clearly did not handle it professionaly.

I never liked the show anyway. Drew Carey show was better.

I can appreciate the apology, but his claim of not being racist is flawed IMO. If he had dropped the N word once perhaps I buy it, but saying it the way he did would suggest to me he said what he meant.

Racist for saying ******? Give me a break. Black people say it all the time. As friends, we joke around and call each other that. You'd be surprised what you would say in the heat of the moment. You take that persons features and turn it against them, whether they're a fat white guy, skinny asian, tall black, etc. If it was a fat person, OH NOES HE HATES TEH FAT PPL!!!!11

Which part don't you get?

One of my friends called me a cracker I wouldn't blink.

It is hard truly understand the perspective. There is a symbolism behind that word to African Americans far stronger than someone outside their culture can understand. Like a swastika to a Jew, it cuts hard and painfully. Is he a racist? To some extent yes, but he clearly has some other issues to be so venomous in his scathing vituperations. If he was being a comic, he would have been funny, not vicious.

I might offer up this. What was done was not out of humor but anger. That's the difference. To me it's not acceptable either way but the way he used his anger in using a social taboo does show a major bias.

Why do these types of thread always degenerate into name calling? Is that the best debate that a portion of the SG membership has to offer?

I agree, We all say things in anger we wish we haden't.
Hmm leaves the door open for somebody to come up with the idea of No Cell Phones in shows or movies though. interesting....

To rationlize that behavior you lose a few in my book.....but i guess we'll have to agree to disagree....it's so obvious his words were fueled by anger that even the nost naive could see that....

First you change my post to say KKK (tard), then accuse me of being part of the "problem". What problem is that, and why exactly am I part of it? Giving me a hard time because Im white now? See how I can play that game too?

The use of the N word didnt bother me as much as you for obvious reasons, BUT, I still dont care for his use of it that way. I could never in my life ever agree with the lynching of another, pitch forks, etc. That is just RIDICULOUS, and so is saying that **** infront of many viewers. Now that I made that point, whether or not you agree with me, I find that the only reason hes getting this much attention is because of who he IS. Any other small time comedian, it may have made the local newspaper, but that'd be it. The media grabs on to way too much, let it go already. His punishment will come in life, probably for many years to come, WITHOUT the medias help.

Well sure, any celeb is going to be in a spotlight of sorts a lot of the time, much less when they're literally on stage.

Doesn't lessen the severity of his comments or the reaction of gut level disgust so many people are having towards him. He wasn't some moron talking to another moron in a bar or back office somewhere...he was in public, on stage, giving a professional performance.

He's being held accountable it seems like, the media is just getting their soundbite. Not their fault he decided to go apeshit onstage.

I dont get the criticism of Loonatic, but I will say I am concerned that I am being accused of something since I agreed with Loonatic that if someone wants to call me a cracker it doesn't bug me.

To make my point clear I do not condone in any way the use of the N word. I can't imagine how I can stress that anymore. If the use of cracker directed at me is meant with a negative connotation then I suppose I never allowed it to be that way when used. It's simply a word that never bugged me. Certainly I can think of better things to call me (Trent is a nice start or Roody), but just because I don't think much of that word doesn't mean that somehow I approve of the N word.

Anyway, that's my own .02
