Trying to recover lost ICQ password

Post by darlin »

I have lost the password for my ICQ ID. I have tried the lost password recovery, but no luck there either. I'm using ICQ version 2002a.

I have been through the registry, but I couldn't find anything there. I've been through my icq files, and was able to find the username, which I already know, and the email address. I tried this at ICQ's site to no avail.

I have googled, but all I'm finding is password retrieval tools, which are a little pricey, and there's no guarntee that they will even work. I know the password has to be located somewhere on my PC. Although it is probably going to be encrypted, hopefully not MD-5.

If anyone has any suggestions as to how I may be able to find my password, please share it with me.

Thanks. :)

If icq is installed & the password has been enterd and stored, then you can sniff the password when starting up icqusing ethereal, wireshark or this:

No one has any right to force data on you
and command you to believe it or else.
If it is not true for you, it isn't true.

Thanks for the information. Yeah it's been awhile since I've posted. Been a little busy, but it's hard to stay away from the computer, and my favorite site. You guys are great :)
