cable connection problem

Post by sieZe »

like some others, i have a problem with my
cable modem. it loses the connection, its been happening for 2weeks now. when it loses the connection then i renew the winipcfg,
then it works. this is what roadrunner told
me to do when it stops working. and they
also told me to unplug the power adapter and
wait for some mins, and turn it back up. but
as u guessed, it still doesnt work. weird thing is that when it works, it goes well
about 3hours or less, sometimes longer, then
it frozes. of course i called rr more than
i have to, talking with more than 20
technitians and they all talked different,
i read some messages in this forum, and it
seems like there r a lot people thats having
the same kind of problem.
this is my system
Pii 350mhz
160mb ram
30gb hard
voodoo4
RCA cable modem
D-Link 530tx+ 10/100 ethernet(it didnt have
any drivers for winME)
windows ME

somebody in this forum said it happens when
ur tcp/ip got messed or something like that
and u have to install tcp/ip protocol, well
i didnt get what this means. i tryed to do
this and in the network windows there was some tcp/ip related thingys but i dont know
what to do. actually removed the ethernet card's protocol and remaded it but the it
still doesnt work.
so to make it short, it works fine about
several hours and it stops working, and
please help me.

Read what i posted here

http://forums.speedguide.net/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=2&t=012474

Basically i wrote if you had installed any tweaks
It may have some registry strings your connection isn't fond of
Restore your registry back to normal and test out your downloads, see if problem goes away
If so then you'll know where the problem lies
