Icon Goofed

Post by Watch5869 »

I was poking around in the "My Network Places" folder and it locked up and I had to "End Task" it. When I got back in, one of my icons for a drive was replaced with a Linksys icon as if it were an adapter. Can I change this back?

Thanks

This software might help.

Wow! Thanks but a bit too radical to try right now. Surely there must be a way to change the icons in My Network Places under Windows conventionally.

Did you try the drop down menu?

Tools>Folder Options>View>Reset all Folders

then try rebooting.

Try changing your desktop theme to classic, then back to what you had. Or if on classic, to something else, then back to classic. That often will rebuild your shelliconcache.

Download Powertoys for XP and repair icons.

I had one of my system crashes that I am still trying to find the cause of and when I rebooted the icon was normal!

But in any case, is there a way to change the icons within My Network Places? I have some drives that have a folder icon that I would like to change to the proper icon, floppy, CD or HD just for ease in locating them. No biggy but would be nice.

Thanks
