DSL PPPoE Help

Post by kdeez »

Hello everyone,

I was wondering what happened to the DSL PPPoE help page. The link is dead now.

I went to bed monday evening and when I got up the next day, when I went to connect through the Wan miniport, it hung on the window that said "connecting through Wan miniport PPPoE. Then after about 15 seconds the window changes and says cannot connect Error 676 (phone line busy), then in 60 seconds it attempts to reconnect.

My phone line isn't busy. I tried to make a new connection and everything went fine, but when I atempted to connect, same thing.

I am using XP SP2, Earthlink DSL with very few problems ever (except that the speed isn't what I'd like), and I am still aboe to use the DSL fine. Just that there seems to be this problem connection through the wan miniport.

Thanks in advance for any help anyone may be able to provide. Ken

Good morning mccoffee,

In the service name I put Earthlink (which is my service provider). When I tried to connect this time, the window said "Dialing Earthlink". after a little while, the window changed to "error 678-the remote computer did not respond. Then after a minute, it redials.

No I haven't. I presumed, maybe incorrectly, that since I still had a DSL connection, the problem must have been with my PC. Worth checking out though. thanks.
