i picked it up from best buy tonight and disk 6 is messed up on the install the iw07.iwd file keeps popping up with a read error guess i have to make a trip to town tomorrow and exchange it out.

Yeah, nothing like installing the other 5 disks to find the 6th one is messed up.

just download it and use your CD key. its perfectly legal as long as you acually purchased the game.

Same prob here...I downloaded that same file from our GameServer..Copied all the files from the disk into the cod2 dir and then just clicked the shortcut and fired it up...Just had to add key under MP options.

That's an idea, but if it was me I'd rather have a full set of official working CDs.
