Wow, never expected a cop to be so, well, chicken****. I guess he was afraid to get his hands dirty. I'm surprised the cop didn't start crying and whining. A better idea would be to have the entire populace,(except cops of course, they shouldn't be treated so inhumanely), fitted with implanted electrodes to drop a person cold at the touch of a button.

Why didn't Tinhorn pull out his nightstick? Hell, he probably could have beat the guy to death with it and got off. Police brutalities/fatalities almost never end up in convictions, instead, they are given free paid vacations. Public employees with far more rights than any private employees.Oh, that's right, cops are more important than the average citizen.

Poor pigger, hope his publicly paid psycho helped him feel better about it.
Throw rock - Hit other guy with stick - Throw rock with stick on the end of it - Shoot stick with rock on end of it at guy with curved stick - Hit rock with fire, make copper, bronze, iron, steel rocks to put on ends of stick - Put fire in tube, throw rock with fire. - Put fire in metal tube, throw metal rock with fire. - Put fire in metal rocks, drop exploding rocks on other guy - Drop rocks made of unstable atomic metals on other guy - Head for the asteroid belt. Throw rock

LOL, that was funny, the guy certainly had it coming.

The guy clearly was defiant, and resistant. They got into a physical match with a few go arounds for 15 seconds or so (so he DID indeed get his hands dirty for a bit), and it escalated to the point where rather than risk physical injury to either party, the officer stepped back and went to taze.

Chrome, it's by far the safest route for BOTH parties. I've used the term before about tazers..."it's a 30 second polka dance for the person"..that's it, when it's over, it's over...done, kaput, it's no_big_deal. Compared to sprains, scrapes, or other injuries to either party from a physical fight to restrain, or...believe me, you'd rather be tazered and forget about it in a couple of minutes...compared to having OCAT sprayed in your face and burning for hours...not to mention reliving that burning when you take a shower to wash it off (all those molecules wash down out of your hair down your face to burn you all over again and make you relive it)

More cops get in trouble for sticking a guy then they do with tasers. The taser is meant to save everyone involved ALOT of paperwork and such.

When an officer is involved with a fight with a suspect, if said suspect gets cut during the scuffle, every officer involved is sent to get tested, sometimes even being taken off duty until all the blood work is done to make sure suspect didn't give then any weird disease

And one last thing, Chrome, do you have the balls to join the PD?

Oh please, give it a rest

The tazer is a way to save a beating, and prevent injury to both the cop and the suspect.

Infact, why dont you come down to Detroit and tell me what you like better, me beating your ass with a bat or getting tazed.

How about I just comply and still get tazed or beaten, just for safety's sake, or maybe 'cause you want to make an example. Its a dirty job, I have one too. If you don't like it, or criticism of it, phracking quit. Detroit won't go under without you. Go ahead, tell me pepper spray and tazers are actually good for me.

And Ciscokid, I have the balls to join the PD, and a little of the desire. American policemen are some of the freest people in the world, they can kill you and say you were reaching for something, and then get off without so much as a trial. They basically have an open license for whatever weaponry they want to possess, after all, who would arrest them? But my self respect tells me not to, and I just plain don't really want the job. I recognize that I shouldn't be able to get out of tickets or other legal messes because of my position. And I would actually like something actively done, not just a clean up crew with blue uniforms; after all, the US Supreme Court has stated that police have no requirement to protect citizens.

Back to you loonatic, I'm not directing this at you, its the system that worries me. A fair percentage of the police protectorate seems to act above the law, like the cops that go to the bar down the street from where I work, drinking many pitchers of beer and then driving home. Also the disparity of enforcement bothers me. If I were to shoot someone in self defense, I'd likely have my nuts put through the ringer, even if it was a clear cut case of self defense. You would file a report and get a paid vacation, and your previous record and likely your name would be kept from the public, a wrong in my eyes, because you are a public servant with the power to immediately dispense death.

I will admit that I would recommend that no one enters law enforcement, but that's mostly personal experience. I used to have a cousin named Ty Pratt. I'm ossifying in my years I guess; I wish there were no cops or the need for them. I've never been arrested or ticketted, but the police have only brought me fear, pain, and death.

Chrome did hit on a few points that actually kept me from being a cop. I had references from the Mayor and other higher ups in the city and all I had to do was finish things off with a meeting with the Chief.

I've seen quite abit of corruption with OKC and surrounding area police. I believe that cops should (and are supposed to) obey ALL laws including traffic while not responding to an emergency..but they don't. Cops I know, hung out with, and rode with on duty many many times didn't feel they needed to stay within the speed limits, etc. Also many of them DO have the 'sepreme being' attitude. I know that many of them don't and many of them DO obey the laws that John Q Public are supposed to, but it was the ignorant and cocky ones that I just couldn't work with.

As for this video, the cop was completely justified and held alot of restraint, I think. I could have been worse.

Loonatic, I hope when you become a cop you're one of the good ones. ;)

Gee, maybe if people would act responsible and abide by the law, cops would have no need to act any way but proffesional. If I knew I had a chance at getting shot over $4 worth of crack, you can bet your a$$ I'd be a little on edge and extremely cautious. I'd venture to say that the percentage of good cops are higher than the percentage of good people.

People that constantly refer to Police as "pigs" and such have probably been on the wrong side of the pokey at least once and rightly so.

I find certain comments in this thread juvenile at least.

The guy was pissed cuz he was drunk and I think he blurted "I just got out" so he knew his ass was goin to the pokey. While there might be some cops who may abuse tasers, this guy was clearly in the right for using it. However after the first or second jolt, I think he could have just put his knee into the guys back and cuffed him without having to do it several times more. The guy was already on the ground and pretty much dazed as it was.
