Hard Drive and Lost Data question

Post by wee96 »

Ive got a WD 160gb drive that somehow got the partition deleted, which happened to have ALOT of majorly important data for me. I havent done anything else to the drive, its just coming up as unpartitioned now, is there anything or any type of software I can get that might be able to recover most or all of my data and/or recover the partition? I havent had to do anything like this in so long im totally out of it, and all my file recovery software was on that drive so alot of good that does me :) Any help would be great, thanks.

I've had a fair amount of luck with Active@ software.........

File Scavenger

This was posted for Blacklab in another thread, never used it, can't attest to it's effectiveness, but it worked for him.

I could recommend you to try Disk Director. I use this soft to partition my HDD, but it also has partition recovery expert tool, which allows recover deleted or lost partition. This software could independent work from bootable CDs or diskettes, enables you to recover partitions even if your operating system fails to boot.
I hope it would be useful for you, and recover your needed data.

Thanks for the replies, I was able to recover 90% of the data (most of the very important stuff). This type of thing definately makes me re-think my backup procedures, im not gonna rely on hard drives as much as I used to.

I suggest you use Partition Table Doctor to resolve your
problem. The software provides very useful functions:
Backup partition table, Restore partition table, Rebuild
partition table, undelete partition, Fix boot sector,
rebuild mbr,etc.

First thing I recommend you download the demo version of
Partition Table Doctor.( http://www.ptdd.com/download.htm )

Run the program and select "Rebuild Partition Table",
then choose "Interactive" mode.
