pacbell capped me for their "troubleshooting" >=(

I was getting 145KB a second downloads on my 1.5Mb dsl connection... then a technician came and did some crap to my phone lines (look at the line splitter post by me yesterday :D )... now I called and asked wtf was going on because i was getting lame speeds and the tech said "oh we limited you to 768 but let me fix that for you.. we do that because you had a problem of some sort and we do that .. oh thanks a lot for telling me.... so he calls me 5 minutes later and says for me to check my speed again... it was almost the same but slightly better.. I couldnt go over 100k a second still. The tech said that everything was looking real good and was surprised to hear that I used to get that fast of speed.. I'm at 5000 ft from the telco so I dunno why its such a big surprise.. but anyway, he said that I'm getting 1000kbps and pacbell guarantees at least 384/128 and up to 15000. I argue for a second with him and so they're gonna send another tech to my house tommorow.. I hope its not the same one as last time!!!! (read other post :) ) Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should or can do? I want the guy to take out that damn splitter if it limits my speed that much. I'm gonna crack some skulls if I dont get my speed back (jk)
thank you :D
btw.. my rwin and mtu and all that crap were unchanged from before.

I would certainly make sure the POTS/DSL splitter is a good one and properly installed. Myself I do not know much about DSL lines. Dannjr? you around somewhere? Oh well dannjr knows A LOT about the physical of DSL. Also Pacbell might have done something at the CO your line runs to and you might want to ask them to check your line card and make sure it is installed correctly.

Another solution would be not to put up with all that BS and get cable.

Have you not listened to anything that has been said on this forum, dsl is much better than cable and faster in the end too.
