I have a 4200 TI and decided to upgrade to a 6600 GT and I can never get it passed the windows xp loading screen, after that the picture just stays black. I was originally using a 300 watt and figured it wasnt enough power so I bought a 450 watt PS and the problem is still there, is 450 watt not enough or is it the card that is no good, keep in mind I never got it to work so I might just have a bad card.
I have 1 Raptor drive, 1 DVD burner plus 2 120mm fans and a volcano 9, other then that I have nothing else that uses power.
450 watt not enough for a 6600 GT?
I just tried it while giving it an independent line and it still didnt boot up, the PS I bought is pretty cheap, 40 bucks for a 450 watt, I will get a better one tomorrow.
One thing I forgot to mention in my previous post is when I had my 300 watt I was able to get to desktop with the 6600 GT but it gave me a message that the cards settings had been toned down due to lack of sufficient power, which is why I got a 450 watt, but I was only able to get to desktop that one time regardless of which PS I used.

I don't know, I've run the 6600GT on a few cheap PSU.. Some rated lower than 400 watt, never had a problem.
I'd check your rails with a multimeter, see if it's dipping or just plain old low.
