Cable Problems Discovered! HP to blame

Post by FunK »

My friend just got this e-mail from his cable provider. I thought it was funny enough to share.
Dear Buckeye Express customer:

Over the past few days many of our customers have experienced problems of slow performance. After a great deal of investigation, the problem has been found. It seems that an updated function in the newer models of the Hewlett
Packard Pavillion computers (those with the programmable keyboards) generates constant and unnecessary messages over our network. This creates an extreme amount of network traffic, which essentially consumes our network
capabilities in the part of our network in which one of these computers is located. This excessive and unnecessary traffic interferes with the HP customers' Internet access. It also significantly degrades the network performance for the other computers in that part of our network.
We are attempting to get Hewlett Packard to address this problem. In the meantime the Buckeye Express staff has devised an interim fix. It requires all of the Buckeye Express customers who have HP Pavillion computers with
the programmable keyboards to receive the fix from us and run the repair procedure. If you or anyone you know has one of these HP computers, please contact our Help Desk at 724-FAST (3278) so we can get the fix into their
hands without delay.

As always, your satisfaction with the products and services you receive from Buckeye CableSystem is our highest priority. Be assured that we are doing everything in our power to resolve this situation and restore the reliability and high-speed you have come to expect from Buckeye Express. We regret any inconvenience this problem has caused you.
I wonder if there is any truth to this.
It would seem like they actually found a problem with those keyboards, but can it REALLY be that big a problem?

Perhaps a few Cable Techs here can help out.

Darned HP Keyboards!

Peace,
FunK
Simply run adaware, spybot, ZoneAlarm, HijackThis, AVG, update windows daily, have a router, don't open e-mail, turn off action scripting, don't use P2P networks, don't violate EULAs, and wear a condom to get Windows secured.

I've not heard of this problem, but HP in general turns networks into mush. Their drivers are pretty invasisve.

Let's get some facts - can your friend find out what the modification is?

Thanks,

lol.... so my keyboard may be killing my internet?....lol

Well I do not have the drivers loaded on win2k though because I used to on Win98 and they slowed down the computer, hogged resources, and gave a ton of BSODs.
