Just got new plugs and a DYNO run

Post by MadDoctor »

I was at the NAPA store today and they were selling kryptonite spark plugs. I picked up 8 of them and stuffed them into my 2003 GT Mustang. WOW!!!! It was flying. I took it down and had it DYNO’ed.

A stock 2003 GT runs about 260 HP at the crank which results in 220 at the wheels. The kryptonite spark plugs took it to 390 HP and 382 torque *at the wheels*. See dyno test below. Most impressive! $15/plug but worth every penny!!!

You should've added a C O B R A sticker to the rear bumper that would've added at least 50hp, 10 for each letter. :D

Nice.....

Stay off the throttle in the rain. 390 eh? Damn thats nice, just don't get c0<ky and try an '03 Cobra, them be nasty. Smaller pulley and it would hose ya. Yank those GT badges and stick the 6cyl emblems on there too. Sleeper, except for the new noise I suspect you might be makin....*whiiinnneeee* Premium fuel is gonna rock yer wallet too :D

The guy ran the dyno three times. It came out 390 - 390 on both HP and T most of the time. However... a supercharger will do that. :D I think (ouch! It hurts when I think) that the '03 Cobra runs 390 at the crank, not the wheels. I'm sure I'll find out. I've been running premium for a while and it's not too bad. The wife's car sucks down more than mine!

The 03s are waaaay underrated. Many Dyno close to 390 @ the wheels. A 100 dollar pulley puts em way over that too. Evil machines.

So you are saying you went from 260 or whatever to 390? Just from spark plugs? If so, I would have to say you are lying simply because that is physically impossible. You went from 260hp and 280torque (specs on a 2003GT) to.. let's see.. 390hp and 381torque JUST from spark plugs. Pfft.. what else MD :)

Blowers are awesome, does it whine pretty loud? They are harder to conceal than turbo's when your trying to race someone that thinks theyre bad, but hopefully youll get people pullin up to you at lights and you blow their doors off. I used to have fun racin cobra's on my bike, totally destroyed them obviously but they sound awesome.

Wee...ya seen the vid of the 'charged Viper that'll pull a stock Busa from a 60mph roll? Not by much tho, just nips the bike. Then the supercharged Viper goes up against a turboed Busa and gets owned. Looked like he put on the brakes that bike took off so fast. I've also seen a vid of a pretty stoked Cobra go one out of three(biker missed a gear somehow) with a 600cc bike.

Judging by the torque curve, Ill guess a Magnuson or Kenne Bell setup.

Whoops, beaten. :rotfl:

I know the LT1 I have can only safely support about 4.5 PSI, according to the blower info I've seen for mine. Fords, well really most all others, seem to be able to handle much more. A few guys with the Impala SS's have twin-turbo setups that are really impressive, but that's with a total buildup.

It doesn’t whine much at all. You don’t hear anything until you get to about 2,300 RPM and then a soft whine starts. As the power grows the whine sound increases a little... but you don’t hear it because you are watching the RMPs fly to the red line. It pulls hard. It’s my first mod… and as you know, there are many to go. The shop is suggesting a new shifter and exhaust next. New rods and pistons would be a good idea on the GT.

Yea thats manny and nick slick on the busa. Its a nitrous busa, no turbo, and its bored out to 1398cc. He made mannys viper as you said look like it was sitting still hahaha. Ive actually got a video of a supra thats so fast it literally starts to pull on nicks busa, now THATS fast (7's).

That other vid is a 500+hp cobra vs. an F4i (96hp). Pretty much an even race at highway speeds as the 600's start to die out and the cobra starts to gain, from a dig the cobra would get destroyed though haha. Just cant beat the flat out acceleration of a bike from a stop (can only match it, Enzo, S7, etc).

Thanks. :) I need a bumper sticker that says: "I've got wood... thanks to my little blower" or "I've been blown" or "Need new tires. Will take donations"
