eBay requires a lot more than a T1. :)

$1250/mo., what a rip, at least in my area.
Out of curiosity, I've gotten quotes b/t $740 and $1,000.

I don't need the T1 upload speed either, sure it would be nice... but......

I posted this for all the people that signed up for AT&T service and complain about the 128k upload cap.

My Getting Started guide was Printed in 1999 and I got it Feb 2000.
In the guide it clearly states that AT&T @Home service is limited to 128kbits/second and download speeds up to 100 times a 28.8k modem.

So if you get over the 128K upload like I used to, just think of it as having a $1100.00 discount for how ever many months you got it.

I pay $29.95 for my service.

My 40k internet dialup used to cost me $24.00 for the phone and $14.95 for the service = $38.95 plus taxes.

So I am paying for a service with 3 to 4 times the upload and 66 times the download of my old dial up connection at 3/4 of the price.

Think about what your are getting.

If you want that FTP or web server, then maybe you need to start hosting "pay per click porn advertising" to support the $1200.00 you have to pay for the service you think you need.

Have I put it in a perspective you can understand?

You wouldn't have THAT T1 as a backbone.

I'm with Optimum Online

I can get like 4x the speed of T1 in downloading and about 128 KBytes in uploading
That's about 60 to 70 KBytes off from T1 in upping
Close enough but look at the price differance
Fast upload speed is real great in trading with peeps if you know what i mean
I pay $29.95 a month and my speeds have been constant for bout 2 years running
This is what i think of T1

You can't compare the two. Besides being two totally different technologies, a T1 comes w/ QoS business quarantees--your cable connection doesn't.

Plus, wait till OOL users get some traffic. OOL is pretty much new, and theres not enough users to saturate the bandwidth. Once there is, OOL will be flooded with complaints and force a cap on you. Even if the cap is 4mbps/800kbps.

LOL
I think you should be more worried then OOL users about speed and caps
Your with @Home right?
If so, i don't see your speeds lasting too long
