intrusion detection

Post by blues »

in Norton Personal Firewall 2004, "Intrusion Detection" feature is off. When I try to turn it on, I get "Failed to save setting. Please verify that your Windows account is not restricted."

What is a restricted Windows account, and what can I do to turn on Intrusion Detection?

Log in as ADMINISTRATOR ...not an acct with admin...You need to log in as administrator. Its so wierd why they do that. I had to log in just to uninstall it like that. They require it.

If you have your welcome screen activated..do CTRL-ALT-DEL twice and the login screen will appear where you can manually type it in

intrusion detection

Thanks, Pie

I don't know how to log in as Administrator. I used CTRL-ALT-DEL, and got to a Windows Task Manager. The only tab which seems appropriate is "User." I tried to delete my name (it's my personal computer), to type in Administrator in its place, but couldn't do it.

Pardon my ignorance, but how exactly do I log in as Administrator? And will that get rid of whatever has somehow suddenly made my Windows account restricted?

Start>Log Off.

If you have XP Home and don't use logins, I have no idea how that would work
