Its a way for members to grade each other based on their posts. Red is a negative Rep, Green is Positive and Grey is rep given from someone with not enough cumulative points to register as one color or the other.

...which is actually meaningless because people stack themselves.

Probably intended to rate technical knowledge, most points are earned in the general forum, posting about religion and politics. Become something of highschool popularity contest.

I understand how it can be confusing.

Reputation isnt meant just for technical posts its meant for posts in general. The topic really doesnt matter. Basically if someone is helpful to you its nice to give Rep points out or if you think a point made is a good one. That said, some will give out Rep points for things they perceive as negatives also.

If your wondering how to give them you just click on the "scales of justice" icon to the left under their name/avatar.

HEHEHEHEE! Well, that seems to have worked well, you have 4 now at my counting :thumb: - were you helping or just pouting at them???? Joke!!

MadDoctor - how on earth did you cultivate that collection of reds - you've only ever helped me! Here's a green, now that I understand the scheme better....I'd advise all to give MadDoc a point (green) sheerly if nothing than to clear his/her history - Everyone deserves a second chance...... although maybe you've already had one.....or more than one....actually, maybe you guys shouldn't take my word for it.......but no worries here's a greeny from me! :rotfl: :thumb:

*collapsed laughing* :D
I couldn't give a bat's brain about reputation points personally, I just felt MadDoctor wasn't being granted the justice I thought he/she deserved, I didn't post to get rep points....thanks all the same to those who did :rotfl:
