I need help gentlemen.....or ladies

There is something very wrong with this connection. Comcast has upgraded our caps to 3000 Kb/s down and 256 Kb/s up and as you can see my speeds aren't that. We've powercycled and empty caches and yes MnoSteele, I even upgraded my comp so :P to your badmouthing my computer. I now have a 1.2 gig processor with 128 megs of RAM....ok so I know that's not enough..I have plenty of hard drive space and no other programs running on Win XP during these tests. It seemed ok before but it seems to have slowed to a crawl within a week. I have checked and re-checked for ad and spyware. I have defragged every drive I have and eliminated all my temp files. I have done the faster webpage tweak and checked to make sure it stayed in the registry but even those pages seem to have slowed down. Is that everything?

You have a couple of things worng first power down modem and leave it off for about 20 mins. Your rwin is way way to high lower it

Scan for virsus using avg it's a free program just to be safe. As far as the ram goes aslong as the computer is doing your needs you should be alight later on if you need to get a game then upgrade right now your alright.. Assuming your comptuer is ddr ram ram is only about 20 bucks right now

If everything i siad doesn't work then you got something wrong with isp/ or on the cable line it self.....

Try thease in the sg optmizer below me to download and install

select - cable
check - custom settings
network adapter selection -
check modify all adapters
maxmtu -1500
TTL - 64
TCP Receive Window 64240
MTU Discovery - yes
Black Hole Detect - no
Selective Acks - yes
Max Dup ACKs - 2
TCP 1323 nothing is checked

Other Settings tab:

Max Connections per Server - 10
Max Connections per 1.0 Server - 20
Lan Browsing Speedup - optimized

Then select "Apply Changes" and reboot to take effect.

1. Under your LAN connection - properties - general tab, uninstall all the protocols there that you do not need.

2. Open IE and select tools - internet options - connections -

LAN settings, make sure NOTHING there is checked.

3. ALWAYS connect your modem via ethernet (NIC) and make sure you have the latest drivers for your NIC from the manufacturer. Set your NIC duplex mode to 10mb half duplex for Cable, for DSL it is ISP dependent unless you are using a router, if so then set it to 100mb full duplex for both Cable & DSL (the instructions are in my Help & Tips link). If you are using a router make sure you have the latest firmware.

4. Clear your temporary internet files.

5. Power cycle your modem, unplug it for atleast 15 seconds.

6. Download and update then do a scan with SpyBot 1.2 http://beam.to/spybotsd & Ad Aware 6.0 http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download to remove any spyware then install and update SpywareBlaster to stay spyware FREE. YOU MUST USE BOTH AD AWARE & SPYBOT TO ENSURE YOU ARE SPYWARE FREE SINCE ONE FINDS WHAT THE OTHER MISSES.

7. Make sure you do the faster web page tweak in Read1st link.

8. If you have Zone Alarm as a firewall uninstall it then visit Zonelabs.com for further instructions on removing it's left over junk.

9. Install Outpost Firewall http://www.agnitum.com\ or Sygate Firewall http://www.sygate.com/ , both have FREE and Pro versions and are heads above ZA.

10. Scan for viruses with your antivirus app, if you do not have one get one IMMEDIATELY, AVG 6.0 http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php is an excellent FREE AV app.

11. Make sure you have ALL of the latest Windows Updates.

I thought I said I had already powercycled everything.....hmm...my mistake I guess...anyway I have done the virus check and the adware checks pretty much everyday....and I got an RWIN higher than that when I used your method of getting it....taking my caps and multiplying it by 1024...3000x1024= 3072000.....the rwin I have now is the one recommended in the TCP Optimizer and when I used your CP settings in cablenut I got the speeds I have now...the ones I posted earlier...

So anymore advice?

Not much of an improvement eh?

1 277 ms 392 ms 155 ms 10.79.216.1

It shows there is soemthing wrong with the traffic between your house and the provider i would call them that first hop is way to high 277ms sounds there something wrong on there end.. The only way to find out is to call and ask if there is any outages and tell them your are expirening high lantency.. The lower the ms is the better the connection so if you were about 100ms it's better then 277ms..
