Anyone had to deal with this BFV problem before?

Post by cho »

Whenever I load up BFV the EA screen lags really bad, takes about 5 mins to get through it. When it is suppose to say " EA games, challange everything " it stutters like no tomorrow. That screen use to only last for like 10 maybe 15 secs tops..if that.

I've updated my nvidia drivers...so I dunno if that cause it...

My friend d/l Daemon tools for me because he said it was a good program, I know I think Zooner and a couple other people here use that program too. Could that cause that problem? I still try and play with the cd in my drive...

I have Norton system works installed, but when I installed and re-installed BFV I disabled it. When I go to play I also disable it because I know it can cause a problem.

Rename your movie folder and you wont have to see that everytime you play. It will go straight into the games gui, loads much faster this way!! :thumb:

^^^ you can do that or,, in your shortcut paste this ,,, "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield Vietnam\bfvietnam.exe" +restart 1 ,,,and it will skip it or...you can do the following!!!!

Poor fella seems like you had nothing but problems since this guy supposedly fixed your pc... Seems more like he broke it for you!!!

If i where having all these problems i would reinstall a fresh copy of your O/S,, then reinstall all your software...I would also recommend that you learn to do the whole process so you dont have to go and take it to a friend...

I had that problem with EA games before,,Yes i play more than just Battlefield... The only way i was able to get rid of ALL my problems was a format and fresh install of XP.. Probably not what you wanted to here but...

If you need help doing it yourself i am sure we around here would have no problem helping you out... So you can DIY=Do It Yourself :D

I also start my game using The All Seeing Eye so it bypasses all that. I also have my start up movie file name changed so if I just want to only go to my game settings I by pass all that stuff again.

btw how much ram u got?

or make it simple and keep the movie folder for future reference if you need it just rename it like "Movieees" LOL it won't work till you change it back to what it was.

Hey man ... Since no one has mentioned it yet ...

You could always rename your Movies folder to something else and bypass that screen .... :thumb:

I'm with J-high here man ... That many issues calls for a reload .... I have a feeling there were some files left over from the uninstall of the old Nvidia drivers that is causing it ...

Fresh load , Clean installs , and you'll be set ...Depending on the number of porgrams you have you should be able to get it all formated, reloaded all software abck on and updated in one day ....

If you look at my first post in this thread you would also see that you would not have to rename your movies folder all you got to do is put the veitnam shortcut on the desktop,, right click it where it says target just add this behind vietnam.exe ( +restart 1 ) space before the + and a space infront of the 1 and you should be set... When you click on the link it goes right to the main screen bypassing all loadup screens and goes right to the game.... Takes 2 sec. to do... :D

Alright..I'll give the +restart 1 a try first, if that doesn't work I'll re-name the movie folder...and if that doesn't work I'll re-install windows XP...

The only good news is, after this is fixed I'm pretty sure all the problems are gone...*quickly runs to knock on wood* :D

Ok, I was able to bypass the EA screen and the other screen and the intro movie, and the game seemed to run normal. I didn't try joining the SG server...cause I forgot the IP :D . One thing I did notice though is that there was no music...I could hear the clicking when I moved my mouse around but there was no bum bum bum etc.

Is that normal for you guys too??

Hmmm...maybe I will have to re-install windows XP...

When I was adding in the server IP for SG I noticed that it was impossible to read the port #, it looked like sandscript on acid. Pretty much anywords in the grey boarder were like that. I guess as long as it didn't interfer with the actually game, I could just ignore it.

**edit** scratch that...can't ignore it...now I have no menu...just nice blue squares with tons of white dots.

reinstalling xp may help < uggg

I was going to post a link to that thread, but the SG search results for "bullsh|t" were too numerous

sometimes you have to think outside the box to get inside the box ;).

512 mb, soon to buy another stick of 512.

I've played it before fine.

It is just after getting my new harddrive and formatting and installing it that I have ran into this program.

I've already un-installed it and re-installed it, with the same result.

My soundcard works for my mp3's, NWN and everything else. It even works in BFV...just not for the theme music. But since I can't read anywords I'm pretty sure there is some kinda drive conflict.

Nope...I can't say I did...and I'm pretty sure my friend didn't either.

Let me go and do that...maybe that will fix it :)

I haven't played BFV in a couple of weeks... :(

Cho you wont get any music on the menu when you use the +restart 1... you will here the clicks as you move over the menu showing you still have sound...music resumes when you disconnect from a game and go back to the menu if you really want to hear it... :rotfl:

your video problems sound like you got your video settings too high ,overclocked too much, or your video card may be starting to go bad :( lets hope it not the card that would not be good...

I bet you could remove the +1 thingy now and the problem would be corrected as well ...

I too am having the same problem but I just had to sign up for these forums just to let you guys know something.

Its a driver problem. Any drivers past 52.16 has this problem. Revert back to 52.16 and you will have no problem. Yea thats lowwer drivers then what comes on the vietnam cd but hey I just stayed on 52.16 and havent had any problems. I tried several versions, even some on the 60 series, all seem to have the ea game video problem.

Looks like it could be a heat related issue.

Agreed , It looks like an overclock that has gone too far and is having troubles with either the heat or just the speed is too high and causing errors.
